India has the world’s largest diaspora. As of 2020, nearly 17.9 million Indians lived abroad, a testament to the Indian community’s global success and influence.
- Top Destinations: Indians have moved to the UAE, the US, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, the UK, Canada, Qatar, and Australia, enriching those countries. Notably, the migrant population from India has seen a significant surge. In 2000, it was considerably lower. However, by 2020, there was a fantastic increase. Ten million more Indians live abroad than 20 years ago.
- Migration Statistics: The number of Indian immigrants in various years is as follows:
- 2015: 5,240,960
- 2010: 5,436,012
- 2005: 5,923,642
- 2000: 6,411,272
These figures represent a large part of the global migrant stock. Asia is the primary origin for international migrants, and India is the top contributor among Asian countries. Migration trends reflect many factors, including jobs, education, family reunification, and the economy.
We are a team of NRIs. We have lived in Europe and the US for 12 years. We’ve got a unique view of the Indian diaspora and its impact. Our experiences and interactions with fellow Indians abroad have shaped our understanding. They showed us these immigration trends.
As the number of NRIs and PIOs increases, their problems and other issues also increase. With the help of this site, we plan to bring all such issues and concerns to the fore and offer solutions if we can. We also encourage all to participate and suggest your views to be helpful to all.
